SCWC Director Joins San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency in Celebrating 50th Anniversary

Last Thursday, SCWC Executive Director Rich Atwater joined the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency as the organization celebrated 50 years of loyal service to its ratepayers. Atwater sat on one of several panels featured during the event, and participated in a discussion on future solutions to local and statewide water challenges. Given SCWC’s priority focus on the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta, Atwater discussed seismic risk and vulnerabilities in the Delta and the need for implementing the Bay Delta Conservation Plan

SCWC congratulates the San Gorgonio Pass Water Agency on 50 years of success.

Water Quality Task Force Focuses on Chrom 6-New Resources Available

With the release of the Chromium 6 PHG at .02ppb on July 27, 2011 by the California Office of Environmental Health and Hazard Assessments (OEHHA), water associations from around the country convened in Los Angeles to update themselves and regulators on the "State of Science of Chromium 6."  As occurrence and treatment data gaps are being addressed by the Water Research Foundation, SCWC is working with other associations in California and in Washington D.C. to coordinate communications as developments with Chromium 6 and other potential contaminants occur.  This will be key in light of OEHHA's pledge to revise the PHG if soon-to-be-published health effects studies are compelling and U.S. EPA accepts recommendations from a peer review panel that was critical of the federal risk assessment that was similar to OEHHA's.

SCWC has provided updated information on the Chromium 6PHG issue , including a

SCWC’s Water Quality Task Force also established a regular meeting schedule for 2012 beginning on January 20, at 10:00 a.m. and repeating every other month at 10:00 a.m. on the third Friday - the Task Force will meet one more time in 2011 on November 18th at 10:00 a.m.
