SCWC welcomed nearly 450 local, regional and statewide opinion leaders last week to the organization’s 27th Annual Dinner. The crowd was the first to hear U.S. District Court Judge Oliver Wanger (ret.) perspective's on California water policy since retiring from the bench. The group also heard from Congresswoman Grace Napolitano, who was honored with SCWC’s Harriett Wieder Water Leadership Award.

Organizations and Public Water Agencies Voice Support for BDCP
![]() |
Earlier this month, the California Department of Water Resources and U.S. Bureau of Reclamation announced an opportunity for interested parties to comment on the BDCP Memorandum of Agreement—an agreement signed between the public water agencies that are funding BDCP development, the Bureau and DWR. In response, organizations and public water agencies from throughout the state submitted letters of support for the MOA and the BDCP.
The agreement, which will facilitate ongoing funding for the BDCP and coordination between public agencies, is necessary to the successful completion of BDCP. To provide background, the State Water Contractors distributed a document last week outlining key facts about the MOA. Be sure to check it out here.
You can also Read more about what people are saying about BDCP- in a compilation of quotes prepared by the State Water Contractors.
SCWC “Delta Disrupted” Public Education & Outreach Program Underway
The recently launched “Delta Disrupted” program is underway and SCWC is reaching out to organizations throughout Southern California to raise awareness about vulnerabilities in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The program highlights the far-reaching water supply impacts of a major Northern California earthquake and seeks to educate local and regional leaders about the proposed solution: the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, a comprehensive effort underway to protect both the water supply and the Delta’s fragile ecosystem.
We encourage SCWC members to visit our dedicated web page, learn more, download the materials and share them with your members, colleagues and friends.
If you would like to distribute Delta Disrupted materials at an upcoming event or have a SCWC representative make a presentation, please contact us at (818) 760-2121.
