Los Angeles, CA – The Southern California Water Committee (SCWC) is pleased that Governor Brown, in partnership with the federal government, is extending his leadership on the Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP).  Below is an excerpt from the State of the State address and a response statement from SCWC.

“Another huge issue we must tackle is water. Last week, Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar - met here in Sacramento with those in my administration who are working to complete the Bay Delta Conservation Plan. Together we agreed that by this summer we should have the basic elements of the project we need to build. This is something my father worked on and then I worked on—decades ago. We know more now and are committed to the dual goals of restoring the Delta ecosystem and ensuring a reliable water supply,” said Governor Brown.

“Solving the delta crisis is a key policy and outreach priority for the Southern California Water Committee and our members. We were pleased to see Governor Brown weighing in strongly today and working with the Obama administration to promote the advancement of the BDCP. We all understand that this will take time and constructive involvement from all stakeholders. The state and federal agencies’ commitment to the BDCP demonstrates just how critical this project is to California.”
