Los Angeles, CA – The Southern California Water Committee (SCWC) released the organization’s 2012 Policy Guidelines today. The guidelines will serve as the basis for SCWC legislative priorities for the year and will guide both outreach and education efforts.
Issues related to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, such as the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, water use efficiency efforts such as stormwater capture programs and support of science-based water quality regulations are among the key policy areas for SCWC.
“Delta issues are at a pivotal point, we’re facing ongoing regulatory issues on water quality and energy, and we are working hard to support programs that ensure we make the most of our local water supplies,” said Larry McKenney, chairman of SCWC’s Legislative Task Force. “With the help of our members, SCWC is looking forward to a very busy and successful 2012.”
SCWC’s policy efforts this year will focus on:
• Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta:
o Bay Delta Conservation Plan
o 2009 Legislative Package & Financing
