Statement Supporting Important Progress on Development of the Bay Delta Conservations Plan’s “Draft Plan”

November 22, 2010

“The Southern California Water Committee has been fully supportive of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, and we are encouraged to see more than four years of hard work and compromise between so many diverse interests pay off in the form of this significant milestone.

But our work is far from finished and some very critical issues and questions still need to be addressed in this Draft Plan. Many important tests lay ahead in the effort to find acomprehensive fix for the ailing Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. That’s why the Southern California Water Committee is committed to standing with the broad coalition supporting the BDCP’s core policy principles, doing everything we can to ensure the long-term health of the Delta and the reliability of Southern California’s water supply. We are committed to working closely with the incoming Brown Administration and State Legislature in 2011 to ensure progress continues on this critical effort.”
