Southern California Receives More than $92 Million in New Prop. 84 Grants for Local Water Management and Supply Efforts
August 17, 2011
The California Department of Water Resources announced yesterday millions of dollars in new grants for Southern California cities, counties and water agencies from Proposition 84, a statewide water and natural resources bond California voters passed in November 2006. The new grants for Southern California, totaling more than $92 million, will help these agencies and municipalities increase local water supplies and improve water quality.
On behalf of the Southern California Water Committee, Executive Director Rich Atwater issued the following statement.
“These new Proposition 84 grants are great news to our Southern California water agencies and local governments. With this much-needed new funding, local agencies will be able to create new jobs and move forward with important water delivery and supply efforts – including stormwater capture, water recycling, cleaning groundwater supplies and providing additional storage – that are instrumental in securing our region’s water future.”
