Much
has changed about water in California in the last 100 years
building of numerous dams and aqueducts, technological
advances in water reclamation and desalination, and increased
awareness of protecting habitat and species. Facilities for
transporting water has increased farming opportunities and
encouraged urban growth in arid areas. Water recycling and
water conservation have become a statewide ethic. And, of
course, water quality is always a focus of public attention.
